When it comes to shopping for your pup (different treats, flavors, toys, etc), it takes a few times to get it right. Now that Shiloh is a little older and we’ve had time to try out different things, we’ve found a selection that are his absolute favs. Broken down by need, here are my sweet Shiloh’s top dog picks!
Food/Treats – Shiloh is rawhide free!
1. Purina Pro Plan Sport 30/20 – We’ve used this since he was a puppy. We dabbled a little bit with Chicken flavor and switched to beef just because.
2. Purina Beggin’ Strips – He is OBSESSED. These are a good morning to mid-morning treat. He goes wild for Bacon/Beef or PB Bacon flavor!
3. Blue Buffalo Wild Bites – Guy goes WILD for salmon! These were our training treats.
4. Milk-Bone Maro Snacks – These are a good & healthy small snack here and there.
5. Ol’ Roy Munchy Bones – Once he got bigger and his bite got stronger, these were a great treat to keep him busy for a longer period of time. He loves all flavors!
Hygiene
1. Cowboy Magic Shampoo/Conditioner/Purple Shampoo – We use the purple shampoo solely for his white chest time to time. No complaints with this combo!
2. Comb: This is great for keeping the knots out. It was all we used when he was a puppy, but now that he is bigger and his hair is thicker, we use this + the brush below.
3. Brush – Okay so not sure if this is Shiloh’s favorite but it sure is mine! This gets SO MUCH hair!! It also has a button to retract the bristles to easily remove the hair. Get the slide down button!
4. Pedigree Dental Sticks – He prefers bacon flavor! We grab these at Walmart.
5. VIRBAC C.E.T Enzymatic Dental Chews – If we go to a pet store or order online, I grab these over Pedigree dental sticks. They both work great at keeping his breath fresh and cleaning teeth, but he’s used these since his very first vet visit! They last VERY long, he couldn’t eat this in one sitting. In fact, he has only ever actually swallowed one (he scrapes all the stuff off and then it becomes a chew toy/fetch toy). They are easily digestible. It has the appearance and almost feel of rawhide, but in their tummies it digests as applesauce-like texture (so I’m told). They have different sizes for as your pup grows!
Toys
1. Snuggle Puppy – This sweet thing is in shreds. But I can’t get rid of it! We did use this a lot when he was a puppy with the heart beat on at night. We never used the heat pad that came with it. He did like to bring it around the house with him, but as he got older he just enjoyed tearing it apart! I don’t regret this for him, though.
2. Playology Squeaky Beef Chew – Shiloh prefers scented toys and also noises. This one squeaks. Loud. Also works to play fetch with outside!
3. Nylabone Power Chew Ring – Flavored, durable, and he can hold it himself. It’s perfect!
He definitely has had MANY in the past. These are current and most durable favorites!
Accessories/Misc.
1. YETI Stainless Steel Bowls – Yes, kind of boujee. Like mother like son, right?! But in all honesty, I searched high and low for bowls that wouldn’t slide around, were stainless steel, AND a neutral color. They are very hard to come by! We love these a ton! They’ve held up really well, are dishwasher safe, and 100% worth the $$.
2. Top Paw Harness – We use his harness when we go in public with him, whether that be on a walk, downtown, at the dog park, etc. This harness has the dog tag in #3. It is also reflective!
3. Dog Tag on Etsy – The font sells itself. Did I add “have your people call my people” to it? 1000%.
4. Collar & Matching Leash – We prefer the collar when it is just family, in the yard, at day care, etc. We chose the beige color with black hardware. We love!
Hopefully I’m not missing anything! I’ll update as Shiloh discovers new favorites and any recommendations I have! For now- those are all of sweet Shiloh’s top dog picks. & now that I think of it- Shiloh might be slightly spoiled.
