I’ve been looking for ways to create an effective but affordable gym at home. My favorite, most diverse piece of equipment are dumbbells. I knew I needed to start there, then develop more. With it being summer, I decided to look for ways I could workout outside and move it indoors if I ever need to! Here’s what you need to duplicate my effective at home gym set up for under $100:
1. Hop on Facebook Marketplace and search for dumbbells
Through this mini project I discovered dumbbells are unreal expensive. It just didn’t make sense to me! I went on Facebook Marketplace and looked for two 10s and two 15s. I found that most prices on there are close to $1/lb, which seemed fair to me. I was able to get them at exactly that, for a total of $50.
2. Get Foam Tile Blocks
I figured regardless of if I workout indoors or outdoors, I’ll need something to prevent the dumbbells getting scuffed as well as the floors from being ruined. I knew my area outdoors would be on concrete, so I needed some padding. I stuck with these Amazon basics.
3. Get a Yoga Mat
I went back and forth a lot on whether or not this was necessary to have in addition to the blocks, but I’m glad I followed through and got it! Having the blocks provide for more space, and the yoga mat provides for more support. I went with this 6mm thick option.

I am loving the effective at home gym set up so far! It’s easy to take apart if I need to and easy to store! You’ll only need space measuring over 6 feet by 4 feet to make this set up work!
